Losing Leopard Gecko..

So has anyone ever lost track of their gecko when they bring them out? haha She is now safe and sound. Took me a minute to catch her without freaking her out too much! So I figured some of you have some funny/neurotic stories here is mine..

So I was sitting cross legged and she likes to crawl underneath where its like a little cave. Instead of constantly keeping an eye on her (like usual) I thought I felt her snuggled up thinking she's being all cute, so I let her be...
Little did I know the little bugger snuck out and she was m.i.a.! So I instantly started looking for her eye level to the ground. Then i see a little tail wagging in the distance under the farside of the couch! I proceeded watching where she goes, and just observed for alittle, so I didnt scare her off. I then was able to sneak around the couch hold my hand out infront of her and scoop her up! Phew! I think I learned my lesson haha.

lol they can be super sneaky sometimes. My mum lost one of her cresties for a whole day and i did a similar thing to you once. used to shut the doors and let them explore the hallway. my mum has a disability scooter thats kept in the hall and they always run under it and out the other side, except this time one decided to climb up inside the scooter! i only took my eyes off them for a second and it took us hours to get her out.

My litle boy, Dinosaur, pulled something like that last week! he was sitting on my knee in the livingroom, and i was sitting on the floor. my little cousin then decided that she was going to pet him on the back. which he hates. and which makes him freak out. and which i told her not to do. :main_angry: so Dinosaur then launched himself off of my leg and dove under the couch! i was really more concerned with the fact that we had a cat sitting on the back of the couch at the moment, but hes too old to wake up from his nap to chase a gecko apparently :) So then i looked under the couch, and the little escape artist was laying down looking at me with no intentions to move. So my cousin ran and grabbed some wire hangers that we bent into poles, and we tag teamed him! we finally chased him out into my hands by tapping his feet with the haangers, and he was promptly put into his tub.

jfleegs- ironically, our little couch-loving runaways look really alike! except yours still has her pretty tail :D

I have a really good one. We had a 4 foot long red tail boa. The top of the tank was crappy so he would regularly escape. One time I had my golf bag next to the entertainment center where his tank was on. I went golfing and there I see his head popping out of the bag lol. I put him in the side pocket and finished the rest of the holes hahaha.

I have a great one. I have a blue tongued skink lizard that I've owned for 14 years now. I'd say about 10 or 12 years ago it was that I lost him. He is 2 feet long and fat. Good sized lizards and they are puppy dog tame usually and slow moving. So I let him out to roam around in the summertime. Well, he is out one day and I suddenly realize I no longer see him crawling around. I couldn't find him anywhere. It was the weekend, I was doing my cleaning, changing bedsheets, etc. and must have not kept a close enough eye. I eventually gave up after looking for him all day long. About 5 days goes by and I'm upset about this. I even put a hold on a new BTS with a breeder. Another couple of days goes by, it's the weekend again and cleaning day again. I go to change the bedsheets like I did the day he got lost. I pick up the corner of the bed to remove the old sheets and I feel something poking at me. I look further and find him stuck in the bottom of the box spring where he's been for the past week! I couldn't get him out without cutting up the box spring a bit. Put him back in his enclosure with some heat and a bowl of water and man did he drink for a long time! Poor guy was in there every night for a week while we slept.

oh wait, i have a good snake-escape story too! when i was younger i used to breed rosy boas, so we had about 11 at that time. well somehow my favorite girl/family heirloom who is 34 years old right now, escaped while exploring my livingroom, which we regularly let her do. we tore apart the house looking for her, and then gave up after about a week. So while i was depressed about my baby girl (i know... she is more then twice my age :main_rolleyes:) I was eating a sandwich in the dining room when i heard my mom start squealing in the kitchen which made me almost choke! apparently she saw the snake going behind the counter! which happens to be attatched to the wall... soooo... a bunch of crowbars and 200 dollars of repair later and we got her back! now she and one other boa are the only two i have left out of that collection, but theyre my favorites! :D

heres that escape artist! sorry for the terrible quality, but it had to be taken through her tank because she was just fed. :)

I has a 14 foot burm bust the clip off and push his way out with two 50 lb weight on the lid. He was in the crawl space and maybe in my eves of the attic. I built a wood box with a whole on top put two rats in there as a trap. Came home from work and he had eaten the rats and escaped. That night my brother came in my room ready to throw hands because he rolled over in his bed on to my snake who had snuggled up next to him to get warm. He didn't talk to me for a week.
