does any one have experience with this, what can you tell me?
And can you recommend a particular loupe, brand and strength?

I've also read about "experienced herpers" everting a hemipene!!!!!!!!???????

While this seems like a tricky thing, it does interest me and I think it could be a far more accurate way to sex a baby.

Again, any one have experience with this>?

I seem to be finding conflicting information about temperature sexing and cresties, some sites say it isn't possible, while others claim it is.. whats the deal there?

thanks, Danielle,

You will need a 30x loupe to see the pores.
Everting the hemipenes or "popping" is done with snakes. I would not try it with cresteds. Not sure why they would want to do that. If the hemipenes are big enough to come out then the male should already have a bulge showing that he is a male.

Temp sexing is not proven. Some say they get more females at lower temps but they will still end up with a huge amount of males. I havent seen much of a difference either way in cresteds.

It sounds like the care sheet or site that you read is a little off;)

I use a 30x or a 20x. There are some people who can and have checked a young geckos sex by doing "popping" and it is talked about in the Rhac bible. But it is only for trained professionals w/ tools. You can seriously harm a gecko by doing this. I know a herp. vet who wont even consider doing it that way.
