Loyal, my Super-Snow male, died last month very tragically. He was doing so well, but when I put him in with the girls he stopped eating and never ate again... even after he was removed from the colony. I kept him going with my slurry and he seemed to do better, but he had a bad shed and pulled the flesh off of his left front foot right down to the bone! Half of the foot became necrotic and he had a vet appointment for possible amputation, but the day before his appointment I went to soak his feet in less than 1/2" of warm water to try and soften the shed on his other feet and found him 10 minutes later with his face in the water. He was still alive, but could not breathe. I held him hanging head down hoping the water would run out of his airway, but he died within the hour.
I felt so horrible. I have soaked many geckos in more water than that a hundred times over the past 10 years. I still wonder how it happened and wish I had never tried to soak him. I really miss him.
