mack snow incubation

This may be old news , but I wanted to share.....

When I started to incubate my mack snows I read in numorous threads about them being hard to temp sex. These findings came from many different users on different sites.

My findings thus far from 4 mack het tremper and 1 mack tremper females are right on with the typical temp sexing of all other morphs. I incubated at 88 hoping to get a mix of males and females and came up with 100% males :(

I have come to the conclusion that while mack snows are atypical from others findings, add in the albino gene and they become typical once again.

I am now incubating 14 eggs at 82 degrees, so hopefully I get my females. Next year I will hopeful not produce so many males

Thanks for sharing!

Out of 7 Mack Snows incubated at 82 so far only 1 is male. Last year I incubated at 86 and got an even ratio... I'm yet to get eggs from my Snow Bell group, but I hope you're right about adding the albino gene making them more temp sexable... I'll be incubating for mostly females...

We've incubated all of ours at 82* and every single one has been male.

Val, were the hatchlings mack snows or mack snow trempers(hets even)?

I would be very interested in others finding when breeding mack crosses compared to plain mack snows. Getting a handle on temp sexing ones mack snow geckos would be great for everyone.

That would be great! All were mack x mack, no hets. We have two small tremper macks that are unsexable at this point, but we'll keep a look out!

We have had the same thing happen with our Mack Tremper Albinos/Hets from 2006, that happened when we made our first hets in 2005. I have hatched both sexes from both temperature ranges, though most of the time it seems to work just the opposite of the norm.

We have not bred many of the Mack Trempers/Hets together yet, but now is when I`de expect to start to see some changes toward "normal" temp sexing.

Well, all the Mack Snow eggs I incubated at 81-82* came out to be female, and all the eggs I incubated at 88-89* died. So much for statistics...

That sucks! Well atleast we know yours were females at 82, that gives me hope for some female SS trempers :)

My first male SS tremper is realy the only thing large enough for me to temp sex yet, he has incubated at 82, and came out male. I also hatched out 2 Co dom het Blizzards that 82 that came out male. I have SS's and Macks out the ying yang, but thats all i have as far as statistics of things besides regular macks for ya.
