Actually it's just a Mack Pastel with one mostly solid eye and one normal eye... Yes 'true' non combo Mack Pastels look like that as babies and eventually pastel out (see mom's body shot below)...

Anyways this is my first non Snow to show the Blizzard eye trait and it totally throws my theory off track, but that's cool with me... Now I know we can get solid eyed Bells as opposed to just solid eyed Snow Bells... I don't know if I'll ever take the project that far though... :main_laugh:

Here's it's clutch mate (Super Pastel? ;):main_lipsrsealed: )...

Thanks Marlo! Yes, these are my first official '08 babies and no I am not good at keeping promises with myself... :main_laugh: I now have 10 eggs cooking and just paired my third female up a couple days ago... :shame: :shame:

Dad is a Mack Snow Pastel het Blizzard 50% possible het Bell... I am hoping they prove out and I get my solid eyed Bell/Snow Bell... I decided not to prove him out with a Bell for the second year in a row because I'm low on Bell females and need them for bigger things... :main_thumbsup:

So what's your theory? The blizz or bell causing the eye? Hey, you might get yourself a mack bb or bb. I hope you do.

I am sure it's from the Blizzard side... Check out this thread of mine... Your Ruby is probably a special case... It'll be interesting to see what pops out from her... Are you going to breed her back to dad?

I think they are normal/pastels since they were born with the normal patterns.. We have pastel in our male's genes too, it really is a cool effect that it gives! But I do believe that those would be just Pastels. Mack Snow Pastels are still white and black at hatch, it's just the black lightens up to a very very light lavender color.. at least that's how I understood it, I could be wrong.. but we have been calling ours normal/pastels :)

They are absolutely gorgeous!!!

Thanks Jess and Paul and John! I know they aren't much to look at, but I have something distantly related to them that'd blow your socks off... ;) Their worth is in their combo potential... Heck, all of my Bells I've produced originate from the same gecko that these came from!

I've tried my best to give my take on them before, but I think it always comes off as confused ramblings... In this day and age of Leo breeding what defines a normal comes far from how "normal" Leos look... While they may not bring any specific pattern to the game they do add a certain uniqueness when crossed into other morphs...

Btw, when I say "Mack" I'm not calling them Mack Snows... Mack is the name of the breeder where they originated... I'm not sure if they or Alex Hue coined the term... Also not all Mack Snow siblings are Pastels and not all Mack Snows produce Pastels... And now I'm rambling... :main_laugh:

Right.. I know Alex Hue was the one that proved Pastel to be an actual trait. I was just saying that we have a Mack Snow male who carries the Pastel trait (from Alex Hue too :)), and we have been calling the ones that hatch out yellow/black "normal/pastels" because they do not actually carry the Snow gene.. that's all I was saying.. and from my understanding, you are calling yours Mack Pastels because they are just normal, Mack siblings, and you're not saying they carry the Snow gene.. right? So we are agreeing here :)

I thought it was cool that yours looked very similar to ours :) I'm REALLY loving what the Pastel trait can do to Mack offspring :) :D :main_yes: Your Mack Snow babies should lighten up quite a bit as they age too ;)

Well I call them Mack Pastels because IMO they are not normal... If I hatch normal babies from them I call them just that... Normal... I've hatched out dozens of babies from this project over the past couple of years and can tell them from hatching... That goes for this group specifically... I'm not saying it's abnormal to hatch very brightly colored babies... Bright babies from this group have always turned out as Pastels...

I'm too darn passionate (stubborn) about these guys and am way too tired to continue... Let's just settle it as a matter of opinion... ;)

I just do not see how they are different from ours; so you would call ours Mack Pastels too, yes? And you're saying that they aren't normal at all, like Tangs (since Tangs tend to hatch out looking relatively normal, but aren't considered normal).. so would it be like that?

I don't mean to tire you, I am not trying to argue, I am just trying to understand since we work with Mack Snows and the Pastel trait is in our groups...why wouldn't ours be any different?

I think you are assuming that I just don't understand anything about Mack Snows or the Pastel gene, and now I feel like I'm being patronized a little bit

I have 30+ of Mikes 07 animals and breeders. I assure you he is correct in his thinking because those he labeled pastel are indeed exactly that and do not look like a normal..... end of discussion for me.

Thanks for clearing that up, that's all I was trying to ask from the very beginning, and I'm sorry if I'm not always very clear.. I would love to see all of your babies from your Mack Pastel project, I'm sure they are just as awesome!!
