so i was looking at old archives in the health section and came across someone describing a problem and commented on how the gecko which was suppose to be a female rubs its belly/body and tail along the substrate and walls of the cave...someone replied saying that males only do that to mark there scent, is this true?. My jungle who I think is a female at about 6 months and has no pores does this

Only males exude a waxy substance from these pores which is smeared around the cage.

the times i seen him do it were when he just ate and he would rub his belly on the warmest spot of the surface...but he has done it against the oppening corner of his cave to.

Well I was told I had bought a female. But since I bought "it", I have questioned it and thought it was a male. On the inside of his cave hide, I have noticed a sticky substance, this most definitely is the substance that you speak of. I think I can pretty much chalk Cera up as a male.

Mine does it everytime I clean his enclosure. He does not seem to appreciate it

i always assumed it was cuz she was full and wanted the hottest part of the uth to sort of digest and it just felt good to because it was very warm and rough due to it being slate tile.

Post a pic of your little one's under side and people should be able to help you sex it better.

But the tail/body dragging... God, you change anything in the bin and they run over and have to drag their nuts on it. Our one male, Thor, isn't happy until the entire bin has been gone thru. :main_rolleyes: Every other male is nonchalant about it, but this boy takes it to an extreme. LOL.
