Male or female?

Which are better, personality wise? Or are males and females equally as great?

They're both awesome! If you think you may want to add another later, it would be good to start with a female as its possible they could live together in the same tank.

I've got 1 male, and 3 females, and they're all aWESome!
They're all VERY friendly, but the male is a bit more docile(but I think it's due to his medical conditions to be honest).

Can't go wrong with either sex of Leos honestly.
