i was heading down us 19 today in the center lane, and the traffic was fairly heavy. when all the sudden the car ahead of me swerved a little to avoid something in the road, i too was going to swerve, but i had cars on either side of me, and couldnt, and an instant later i saw it, a turtle, about half a second before i felt it go under my tire:( i was upset all day because i killed it, but there was nothing i could do to safely avoid it, poor little guy, i feel so bad :(

I guess in these situations, you just have to imagine what would of happened if you swerved! Im all for trying to avoid hittin animals on the street but drivers should not risk their lives doing so. Yeah its tough, by accident I hit a iguana during my visit in Puerto Rico... i was not happy.

I was driving down a main road before, and a bird flew into my windshield and bounced off, I felt aweful! The poor little thing!

Rob, you did the right thing, it was either the turtle or a "5 Car Pile up on US 19"

That sucks sorry, but you really couldn't help it!

Last summer I was driving with a car on my rear, I mean this person should have been sitting in my back seat he was so close.

Well I spotted a black snake in the road a HUGE one to, and I had time to think if I slam on brakes this dude is gonna rear end me, so I had to run over it. I felt so bad.

I'm sorry this happened... but you did the right thing. Many years ago a dog ran out in front of my car, and my reflexes caused me to swerve to miss it. I went head-on into a light pole and totalled my car.... cracked a few ribs from the seat belt and almost broke my nose from the air bag.

The dog ran off.

Two years ago something happened that will probably never happen again. A bird was flying straight toward my car and it went right in front of me. I slammed on the breaks hoping he would get past me. I heard the slightest bump, thought maybe I missed it and just hit a crack in the road. I look in my rear view mirror and see it flopping around the road. It seemed pretty apparent that I hit just the wing and it could not fly away. As I'm watching it flop around the road, it gets ran over by a semi-truck. I was in shock, I almost crashed the car. It was terrible.
