Maybe Sick? Not eating, soft stools

So, I am going to be calling around for rep vets as soon as I get paid (in a week) but I wanted to get some insight before then. I have not done the "take a stool to the vet) bit though I see it suggested in a few places.

Anyways, The gecko has seemed to stop eating. Her stools have gotten much smaller and seem to be a few little squirts. They are less solid and absorb into the paper towel a little. When I first got her they were stiff and did not really absorb. She has tiny mealworms and crickets available but doesn't eat either. The last time I saw her out she was looking more grey like she was about to molt. Do they stop eating during this time? She still had some tail fat, so she's not starving to death yet. She doesn't have the big juicy tails that I've seen some others on this page. She is only about 4 or 5 months old.

A few things come to mind. Yes they can stop or slow down eating when cominginto a shed... mine doesn't. Also soft runny stool and lack of appatite esp. in a baby make me think first of possible impaction. What is your substrait? Do you use sphagnum moss at all in your set up? Sand? Next, being that young are you feeding every day? Sometimes when they're grumpy fromshed they'd rather hunt maybe or have to hav the bug catch ther attention rather than just sit in a dish and wait to be eaten. Maybe try a different feeder you haven't used in a while like maybe a super worm, silk worm, phoenix worm, or a wax worm, but you know to be careful with the waxies, they're addicting :) If this has been going on for a while and you're not seeing drastic weight loss, it could just be because of shedding or it could be that you caught it early. Either way this needs follow up, you might want to find that vet sooner rather than later.

She is on paper towel, but I do have eco earth inside of the rock she lives in. I bought it to use as a moist hide since I figured the small opening would help keep it from evaporating too fast. I don't put food in there, though.

Well if there is no chance that the leo is ingesting the eco earththen I don't know that impaction could be a problem, but you still have a mystery to solve. When is theleo due to shed? Maybe, as long as you don't see a weight change, wait to see if the leo sheds properly then appatite pick back up. If you see weight loss over the next couple days, I highly recommend finding that herp vet as soon as you can get in to see one. Is your hot side temps around 90-93 degrees F constantly ('cept maybe at night it can go into the high 80's)? At 4-5 mos old she could still go down hill faster than say a 7 mos old leo so use your best judgement. My leo just turned 8 mos old and he is well fed eats great and still doesn't have the huge juicy tail I see on a lot of the mature animals but I know he's healthy. The tail comes with maturity I believe, don't be in a rush to have her grow up too fast. Do you feed her out of a dish or do you feed her 1 prey item at a time and let her hunt them?
