Normally I don't this but I have a case at work that is breaking my heart. We have a 6 month old Yorkie by the name of Lee Lu staying with us. She is fighting for her life and needs to have an incredibly expensive surgery in order to save her life. Lee Lu has a liver shunt. What that means is there is a small vein that is taking away all the nutrients and blood away from the liver and is not letting her filter out toxins properly. She has had seizures because of this and really can't afford to have any more. Her owners are doing everything in their power to come up with the money for her surgery which will be happening on Tuesday. The surgery alone is going to cost them up to 3K. That is not including the 4 days she has been with us. I found out today that her owners had put out a plea on craigslist for donations to put toward her surgery. They have pretty much emptied out their accounts to cover some, but could use a hand in helping covering some of the costs. The place where I work, Animerge, is accepting donations if anyone is willing to call in and make one.
I know that this may seem ridiculous to ask for anyone to help 2 people that you will never know for a dog that you will never see. We have been able to stabilize Lee Lu to the point where she is no longer having seizures and able to eat and be a puppy. She cannot leave our practice until she has this surgery because for her to have another seizure could very well cost her her life. I am touched by these people that are coming 2-3 times a day to visit her, calling several times a day to see how she is doing and making sure each day they bring a shirt from home for her to have.
If anyone can find it in them to donate a little something for Lee Lu, it would be great. You can call Animerge at 908-707-9077 and say that you wish to make a donation for Lee Lu. I have decided to donate my time for the surgery without pay. That alone is going to save them $100 for one hours' time. This is going to be a very difficult and long surgery. She is only 2 pounds at most and is going to be rough on her little body. Without is, she will not live for much longer.
Thank you so much for letting me say this. Maybe we can help this family out.

Leelu is doing fantastic!! She had the surgery Tuesday and I never saw so many techs come in to volunteer for a surgery in my life. She looked so small on the table undergoing surgery. We also spayed her while we had her under because she did so well. She is a happy little girl who is eating fantastic and hopefully later today or tomorrow she will be going home. She is now out of our seizure watch time period for post surgery and is now telling us she is ready to go home. I don't think she has spent any time in her cage because we all are taking turns carrying her around when we have a quiet moment. Thank you all for contributions and well wishes. Leelu will now grow up to be a happy healthy dog thanks to everyone.
