Meal Worm Eats Gecko?

I was told today that mealworms can burrow their way out of a lizard's belly! The girl that told me that actually had it happen to her water dragon. She told me that if the lizard doesn't actually bite the head that the can eat their way out! She cuts the heads off of the worms now, and says that it is pretty common. I feed my leo only worms now, and that really disturbs me. Has any one heard this? I wonder if my leo would even eat a headless worm.

ive heard of it but its a stupid myth that people have made up if this were true the big time breeders wouldnt be so big time ive seen 1 of mine just bite a super and droped it and it was half crippled and also it wouldnt be able to breath in there stomach's

if u cut there heads of then theres no movement to entice your gecko into eating yummy mealworms

This is a myth. Breeders have fed mealworms exclusively for years, and they have never had a problem. Yoshi often swallows her mealworms without chewing them. They don't eat out of her belly.

Cannot be true. IF a mealworm even survives the crunching chewing that happens, it certainly cannot survive the gecko's stomach acids which digest the worm before it has any time to burrow out. I'm sorry to say, the girl that told you this had to be lying or exaggerating.

Yeah, it sounded bogus, but I guess I can worry a little too much. I just don't know why someone with so many herps and experience would lie about something like that.

Most likely she saw an animal that died from another cause and was being scavenged by mealworms, put that together with the old legend and all of a sudden it happened to her.

Impossible. The impact that it gets hit in if not the acids in the stomach will kill it.
