Mealworm life span in dish?

like the title says, about how long do mealworms survive in feeding dish in cage? and do you keep them on the warmer or cooler side?

2 days, 3 at the most is how long I will leave mine in there. I sure that they could last longer, but they begin to lose their nutritional value the longer they are in the bowl. I keep mine in the middle, because my worms are reaching the end of their larva cycle I am beginning to get a lot of pupa in the bowl over night and my geckos will not touch the pupa.
