A few days ago I noticed condensation inside the mealworm colony. I wiped it off, and it happened again. Today I decided to clean it out and put them into fresh bedding. When I opened the container, it was damp around the edges and smelled strong, sort of like ammonia. (eeew!) There's plenty of worms and pupae, and the frass and bran around the edges are damp and stuck together. Guess I used too much carrot. The center of the container looks normal. It's been about 3 weeks since I cleaned it out last. Should I toss them and start over, or just move them into new substrate? I guess what I want to know is, are they OK to feed? They've been multiplying a lot. TIA.
Edited to add: I found out that it's mold, not just wetness, that causes problems. I'll add more holes to the bin and be more careful next time. When it comes to my animals, I'm a genuine worrywart.
