Quick question that i cant seem to find an answer for. Is there any kind of way to remove the mealworms from their container that they come in with the sawdust or whatever they happen to come in or do i have to pluck them out individually one by one searching through the whole thing? :main_huh:

you might just have to pick them all out individually. usually if you dump it all in a container and shake it from side to side they'll float to the top to make it easier then just look for moving sawdust once no more come to the top. i just transferred all mine into fresh bedding and even though i was using a strainer i still had to pick them out because my first bedding mixture had pieces that were too big to fit thru the holes in the mesh.

the smaller pet store near me doesn't put anything in with them (at least in the 100 packs) so that makes it a lot easier.

If you order them in bulk online they usually just come in sacks with balled newspaper sheets. Just dump the worms in the bedding and shake the rest off of the newspaper. Any way you look at it, it's better than buying them in the pet stores.

The pet stores here charge about $3.00 for 100 meal worms, that's $0.03ea and 25-50% are already dead. So actually that's really about $0.06ea.

I could order 3000 meal worms online from sunshine mealworms for about $17.00 shipped to my door. That's about 1/2 a cent per mealworm and all of them arrive alive and well.

For the price per worm I was paying at the local pet stores for 100 mealworms, I could buy 10,000 mealworms online.

Just a thought..
