do you think it would be ok to substitute freeze dried mealies for live mealies? also, they have pedia-sure at the grocery store, im assuming it would be the same as using pedialyte and ensure. anyone else tried either of these substitutions successfully?

I thought the original recipe was using live mealworms instead of freeze dried ones. I've tried pedia-sure (because we don't have pedialyte here in HK). I suppose it is ok to use it as substitute.

I don't think pediasure is the same as pedialyte and ensure, pedialyte especially because it is used to hydrate(sp). I'm not exactly sure between pedialyte and ensure, the only way to be sure is to look at the Nutritional Information on both labels and comparing them.
As for freeze dried mealies, I wouldn't use them because I don't know if the nutritional value of them is lessened during the process of freeze-drying. I also do not know if they were gutloaded before freeze-drying.

The recipe is tried and true with equivalent substitutions stated, each ingredient having a specific purpose. Makes a lot, lasts a long time. Costs a lot less that a vet visit. Something else might work. Might not. It's a personal choice if its worth it or not.
