Could you post pics of your hissers then i can tell genders? :D

They breed fast when in humid and warm. about 85 degrees. 95 degrees sound too hot. i guess. :D Provide them cartons or hiding place, more secure , more fast as they breed. notice -able horns is male as you can see in my picture of Jack. females are likey to have small bump horns.

Provide more hiding places for young so they wont eaten by roaches or you may remove adults and moved to big roaches tank and other tank for babies to thrive and grow. :) feed them carrots.

i only have pics of two of them right now, but it looks like one on left male, and right female? and one by self the male again? and heating pad is on side of tank, so the floor a few inches in front of pad stays around 80-90...thanks

You got male in bright orange, i can see horns! female is darker, it has small bumps. :) 90-80 is fine as lng you have enough space for to maintain proper degree and humid. Make sure you cover the glass with something so it wont hurt roaches by stepping hot glass cause heat pad is sticking to it. get it?

ok sounds good... see one website said moist substrate, and another said bone dry, i have em on moist moss and soil now.....and they dont climb onto the heating pad on the side of glass....not sure why, maybe they can tell its too hot, and i only used that tank with the side heater, because someone else put it on there, and they were the only thing that i could think of that didnt need to lay on the heating pad.....but i am gonna retire that setup before too long...as far as i can tell i got 2 males and 3 females...would you explain in detail everything about your setup? thanks sooo much...

Sure :)

Well, Jack passed away like few week ago, suddenly. God bless his little soul.

First thing.
Moist moss is good and soil too. They'll do just fine, but add climbing branches or rocks or log. They'll likely to hide and breed if they felt secure in their home.
Add wet sponge or paper towel for as water source and also as humid source. You would just spray other side if you would like, for humid raise.

You'll be needing heat pad under tank just to raise temp for their breeding. But depends in your house, if your house are cold, you need heatpad for warmth or they wont breed.

Roaches would go to warm source for rest or to sleep or to breed but I'm concren of what if roaches would step on that hot glass, it would burn their little feets then they could have problems of climbing. I suggest you put heat pad under, just for safely reason.

I used Eco Earth as substance and drifwood/log and rocks for hiding and climbing. I also place half of whole cuttlebone for his exosketelon growth. They'll gnaw on it for calcuim source if they need to.

He was placed in 5 gallon with lid (he was only one roach oh so) and also heat pad under. I provide him carrots and cuttlebones and also moist dry cat food. He loved these. His temp were 85/80. Because he was a male and lives alone in 5 gallon ...

7 of females are alive and carrying Jack's babies, I gave 7 females to good home to my good friend. He was so fond of insects. Jack mated 7 female roaches.

Your welcome, anytime. :)

ok thanks for all your info....i am definitely gonna change that setup soon...that way the heater is under....i hated that the guy put it on the side....instead of taking it back and getting the right size....i have been feeding them collard greens, and carrots....i will have to get a cuddlebone....water is in a dish with rocks so they dont drown.....see i have almost all of the top of the aquarium covered with plexiglass, and i think the moss might be starting to mold, so should i switch substrates, or maybe remove plexiglass? but if i do then i might lose alot of heat....thanks again for all your help...

Change substance once a month. Or change it quick as possible if it's staring to mold. Mold may harm roaches.(toxic to them)You can feed them almost anything but have to be in dish so they wont spoil substance. :)
plexi glass? For as lid or tank?

Pics of your setup when you get it done. :)

Haha.
no problem your very welcome.

My 2nd grade teacher had these, a giant millipede, a bunch of whites tree frogs and poison dart frogs, a tarantula, hermit crabs, and something else too lol
I love the hissing cockroaches. I haven't touched or seen them since though :/ I'm now in 10th so I'm kinda tempted to go visit her, though sadly her millipede died
