Menstrual cycle causing gecko problems?

I posted a thread about my gecko acting weird with a waving tail and many advised that she may be seeing her reflection and could be getting defensive and territorial. This evening my girlfriend went to feed her and she ate like a champ as usual but when my gf tried to put her hand in the tank, she started waving her tail. This behavior only started as my gf started her cycle and to debunk other thoughts, the cycle isn't entirely regular so this doesn't happen every month. Can this be the cause? Could our leo see my gf as a giant predator because of the hormones? Just a thought but we've noticed that since eliminating the reflections she has settled down and my girlfriend seems to be the cause. We've never dropped her, startled her, or mishandled.

To clarify, when this started on Sunday our leo's reaction to my gf was to stop the tail waving and crouch down. My gf did pick her up and our leo wasn't aggressive or feisty. She seemed to enjoy being held, but once placed back into the tank she began waving her tail. As of today, our leo only waves her tail in the presence of my gf (as explained above).

The gecko spends most of the time with my girlfriend and has always been comfortable with her. My girlfriend handles/holds her almost every day and the gecko has never given her any issues or showed signs of fear or anxiety (except when we first got her, naturally). I just wasn't sure about the hormone possibility since I know that other animals can sense hormones emitted from humans. I don't believe that she's giving the leo bad vibes. She's a biology major specializing in animals. She has no fear and loves them.

We've had our leo since July.

The hormone thought was just a hypothesis. We've ruled out every other possibility...unless you have other suggestions, we're very open.
