im making my own gecko rack and i find that the sterilite 16 qt tubs are quite pricey. the lids also wont be used, so they're a waste...i found dish pans in 18, 12, and 8 qts that have similar ground size to the 16 qt containers, the 8 qt dish pan is about the same ground size, but half the height, as long as the shelf above it is snug, could i use those? they are very affordable and dont come with lids. also, the shelf i want to use is only a foot deep, so im thinking of putting my heating on the left side instead of the back, or along the side wall? im also considering a heating cord instead of the tape because im hardware retarded...i dont know. help?

theres only an inch difference in the ground size of the 16 qt sterilite containers and the dish pans. the sterilite containers are 12x17 and the dish pans are 12x16. is height really important? the 12 qt dishpans are 6 inches high, the 8 qts are 4 inches high, compared to the 7 inches high in the sterilite containers?

For a hatchling rack I would think four inches in height would be fine. For adults you might find it too short to accommodate many containers that would make good hides or a deep enough moist hide or lay box.

Pricey? Aren't they like $3?

here i think its like $4.48 + tax..and when your buying alot of them, yes, they are pricey...but, instead of paying the $50 i normally would have, walmart had a two for one sale and i got mine for $25 :3

I guess I was just comparing it to the $50 they charge for a single 20g tank. Crazy...

Seems like there should be a made in China eBay version out there somewhere.
