Mixing diet with CGD and Bone aid?

I have a female crested that is about 9 months old. She seems to have a calcium deficiency, which I dont think is that severe and has not eaten her crickets (that I have seen) for a while. So I have been mostly giving her the CGD and baby food for a while. I was told that using Bone Aid, a liquid calcium supplement, will help her lots. It just came in. Does anyone know if it is safe to still feed her the crested gecko diet and the bone aid till she gets better? Im assuming so because of the fact that she needs to get back on track with her calcium intake. Any help would be greatly appreciated!:)

What symptoms does she have that leads you to believe that she has a calcium deficiency??

One of the reasons you might be having problems is because you are mixing the CGD with baby food, which has little nutritional value. If it calcium deficiency, then I would suggest using a calcium supplement without d3, and instead providing a source of uvb, like in the form of a 10.0 reptisun tube over the enclosure. double check the calcium reserves to make sure that it is infact calcium deficiency, and good luck.

Thanks for replying LadyGecko and Bleeding Sarcasm.

Well when I first realized she wasnt eating her crickets regularly I noticed that she was walking a little funny, almost hesitant. And she also isn't as fast as she used to. I have tried to check the reserves but when I get her to open her mouth she usually bites me or closes her mouth to quick to look for deposits. Also, not really sure, but she could be gravid seeing how she was housed with my male for about 4 to 5 months. As far as the baby food, it isnt all the time that she gets it. I just use that sometimes to get her to eat the CGD because she doesnt usually eat much of it by itself. Its just to give it some better flavor sometimes. My male crested eats the CGD no problem, probably because I raised him on it. Also, Bleeding Sarcasm, the Bone Aid drops I believe will be minus the d3, but what does the UVB light do? I have heard many different people say that UVB is necessary/not necessary.
Thanks for all the help!

She's not eating much of it because she is use to the baby food. A couple weeks of only cgd and she should switch completely. Baby food can be very bad even if it's not an everyday food. I had a female almost die when I started breeding cresteds because I mixed cgd and baby food together with added calcium. She still had a bad calcium crash.

Well she hasn't had the baby food much. It's kind of a treat. Im still giving her the cgd but sometimes I wish she would eat the crickets too. Maybe she just doesn't like the crickets. Does anyone else always have to spoon feed the crested gecko diet, or do some of them actually eat it on their own in their cage?

If she has a mild calcium deficiency, may be gravid, and is not eating that could cause trouble. I'd recomend maybe useing a little of that calcium syrup or another source?

Sorry I never replied to this. UVB helps the gecko to synthesize d3, the vitamin that helps them to absorb calcium. Dietary d3 in too high amounts can be toxic [that which you supplement with] so offering a source like uvb, takes that risk out. For my breeding animals I add calcium and multivitamin, and provide uvb, because it works as a regulator, offering the animals as much or as little as they want.

Ok, I've been feeding both of my geckos strictly cgd every other night and sometimes three nights in a row for about three to four weeks. They both seem to have improved in the way they move, but I dont think theyve been greatly deficient to begin with.

I decided that its better to feed them just the cgd rather than trying to supplement the right amount of calcium and making sure they have enough d3 to use the calcium.

Also, I have some problems with trying to provide uvb light if I wanted to. I have them both in seperate exo terra tanks which I was told the screen on top will not allow the uvb to get through and by shining the uvb through the glass it will become defracted and diminish the light which will also not help. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

i'm sure the screen would let at least some of the uvb through, after all it's just air in between the wires so i can't see what would stop it.
