Moist hide questions.

Few questions on the moist hide. I have an exo terra gecko cave, with paper towels in it right now. I didn't want to put coconut fiber in yet for fear of baby impaction.

Anyway, questions.

1) How moist should a moist hide be? I've got a spray bottle ready for it, and I checked it earlier to find moisture building up on the top. is this too much humidity?

2) Is the gecko ok if he uses it most of the time? It's arguably my most secure hide, so I wouldn't be surprised if goes to it regularly.

3) Should I change up how often I spray it based on if he's shedding or not? Speaking of which, how often does he shed?

4) How often do you change the substrate? For both paper towels and coconut fiber.

It is okay of moisture to build up on top. This is probably where your geckos drinks most of its water. They are more likely to lap up droplets from a humid hide than to drink out of a bowl.

I do tend to spray my moist hides a little more when I see a gecko is getting ready to shed. I change the paper towel every week. Coconut Fiber I only change out every month or maybe longer depending on if the geckos poop in it or not.
