i use ziploc sandwich containers with a hole cut out of the lid. put in some moss and spray it every 3 days or so. i have mine on the cool side of my tubs.

Even if you dont see it, the gecko probably will use the moist hide on its own. try leaving it in there at all times and see if it will go in there when it starts to shed.

I've had my leo for a month and a half and I have only seen him inside his moist hide once. I get paranoid about shedding and toe issues, and I have noticed that his skin does indeed seem to stay on his toes unless I intervene. Like you, I remove him from his tank and put him in a plastic container lined with warm, moist paper towel. I put the container on top of a heating pad set on low and I leave him in there for about an hour, occasionally spraying him with a spray bottle, paying special attention to his feet. He actually doesn't seem to mind it much. So that's my take on the whole shedding thing :)

Before you go out and buy the cave why don't you try replacing his normal hide that he goes into often with a moist hide when he is getting ready to shed...its usually pretty easy to tell when they are going to shed. Honestly though a lot of times I don't see my female go into her moist hide, but I see my male go into his...so every Leo is a little different. Trust that your Leo knows what he's doing...and remember no matter how hard we try to immitate nature...or Viv's just aren't and as long as you are on top of checking post shed for left over shed and remove it...it shouldn't be too big a deal. My female actually now sits very still for me to help her off with any stuck shed.
