Moral dilemma

I need some advice for a situation I've run into. So recently I saw an online classified ad for a free crestie with tank and supplies. Naturally I had to see what that was about. I was hoping it was a female, since I had a male. The poster wasn't sure which sex it was, so today I went to see the little guy (definitely male). He was bought from a petstore about 3-4 years old, so he was about the same age as mine. He was very small and thin with rib bones showing, and had a kink in his tail. I've seen something like that (but much worse) before in pics of a gecko with severe MBD (bottom pics in link):

So to my dilemma. Should I take the gecko and try to save him? I just started a new job and I don't really have the time or money to do this, but I feel bad leaving him to die. Do I tell the owner how sick he may be? And if the owner does give him to someone else, who knows if the new person will take care of him. I don't know what to do...:(

Well if you can take it in then take it but if you can't give it to a person who can take care of it. But good luck I hope I was help.

I'm I huge sucker for hard luck cases... I'd take him in. At least to try to find them a better home if I couldn't keep him. There are reptile rescues out there. If you can find one locally, they might take him.

I'd try to help him too. Unless it puts you in an unnecessary financial hardship...

And a day later, I prove myself a bleeding heart once again. I just bought this skinny, little leo at a Pet Superstore yesterday. He/she seems to be a good eater, so I don't know if it was stress or parasites, but I'll keep an eye on her while in isolation.

You guys convinced me. I'm taking the little guy. I'm going to pick him up tomorrow, so now I'm working on getting a quarantine area set up. I'm also taking in a uromastyx, which the same family is getting rid of. Merry Christmas to me!

Good luck on your little guy LeoLover, keep us posted on his progress.
