If it came from Petco, then it is probably a Normal, High Yellow, or Tangerine.
Not completly true. That may be a majority of what you see there but I have seen murphy patternless, snows, and albinos just to name a few. They get there geckos from some of the very large breeders in the hobby so there is no telling what you can find there.

As long as you are buying healthy geckos from there as pets and not to breed I don't have an issue with it. I personally buy from breeders so I know the history and the exact genetics of the animal as well as the care that has been provided is normally better.
I can say for sure that you have a nice looking gecko. You may get a better idea of the morph as it grows but you probably will never know all of its genetics.

Its an Aberrant Stripe.
Yeah its not a good idea to breed pet store geckos. They are obviously wholesale geckos and geckos that are wholesale tend to be those that the breeders would not sell to the public such as multiple het albinos, severely inbred geckos in which they do not want to continue the line, ones that do not have much monetary value such as normals/high yellows/ etc.

Nice gecko!

Yes, they send their "not much monetary value" normals/high yellows to pet stores. So the question is, for those of us who like the looks of normals/high yellows but don't want to buy from petstores....what do we do? All I want is a simple normal/high yellow, but a healthy one. Seems impossible anymore.

Some breeders breed High Yellows or Normals not to sell to pet stores. I have 2 High Yellow females and 3 Wild Caught first generation normal females to breed next season. It's going to be an awesome year :)

I didn't say that's all they have. That is why I said probably...

I am fully aware of what you said.... Maybe you should read this part of my comment again.

It was not intended to be a jab toward you in any way, I just stated..... Well you can read it.

I would like to know what my babies are too. I got them from a breeder who claims that they are Mack Snows. The smaller one (without the yellow color) looks like a Mack while the other looks more like a Hypo Mack. Her dad looks just like her, but the guy sold the mom so I didn't get to see her. Their eyes are not solid. I couldn't get a good shot of her eyes but they look like regular gecko eyes. The pictures aren't the greatest quality and the bigger female is in an awkward position but can anyone Tell me what you think.

Thanks!

Here are my guesses!

Picture 1 - looks like a mac snow
Picture 2 - normal solid leopard gecko eye
Picture 3 - SHT - has a touch of carrot tail which I think means it cannot be a snow.

Thanks. Thats what I thought too even though the breeder claims that they have both the same parents but from a different clutch year. I read that Mack Snow is a co-dominant gene. Does this mean that if only one parent is a full mack that the colors of both parents can be equally expressed. I was wondering this bc the she has a spotted tail and head just like her younger sister who looks like a full Macksnow.

Mack snow is a co-dominant morph so there is expression of the gene if only one copy is present. Mack snow is the heterozygous form - so it has one gene for snow and one non-Mack snow gene at that allele. Mack super snow is the homozygous form - they have two genes for Mack snow at that allele

The gecko in your first picture is the heterozygous form - super snows usually look really different with either really small spots all over or none at all. I don't think your last gecko has any Mack snow in it. The amount and location of the spotting is more of a line bred trait so its not unusual for two related geckos to have similar spots.

You may get more responses if you start your own thread :)

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I hate to pack it on...but I would love to know the value and possible morph of a co-workers geckos...All she knows is that the first pic is a reverse strip gecko but doesn't know the morph. She was told the second one is a tangerine tremper albino. If she would sell them, what are they worth?
