If its an eclipse, it will have solid eyes, or solid snake eyes. If its het eclipse, its common to have a speckled tail and white socks. Also a white nose. But that doesn't guarantee its het eclipse

Just to clarify, An Eclipse can have solid (eclipsed) eyes, partial (snake eyes) which can be as little as 5-10% up to 90-95%, and in some cases they can even lose the pigment all together as they grow. The white nose and feet, along with the speckles (or pepper) on the tail can also be indicators of the Eclipse gene being present. The tricky thing with the Eclipse gene is how much variation there can be between animals (even clutchmates). That is why we love working with it.

I just love eclipses....sometimes a good alternative to the Enigmas when it comes to looks. Love the speckling that the eclipse gene gives to the super snows, similar to the Enigma look without the chance of neurological issues.

I agree 100% Monica. I have also noticed a few I produced this season have almost a W&Y look to them. I think the Eclipse is a very powerful morph that still has a ton of potential but is underrated/overlooked by many.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but you mentioned the speckled tail and I have a few questions for clarity.

-Is it the same kind of thing you see in het blizzards?
-Is it seen in het eclipses as well as visual ones?
-Do you have an example of the speckle tail?
-Is the entire tail speckled or can there be regular sized dots too?

1. I would imagine so, but can't be sure.
2. I've never noticed het eclipses showing a speckled tail like many of the actual eclipses I've seen.
3. From http://www.leopard-gecko-cz.com/breeders.php...a Banded Snake-Eyed Eclipse het RAPTOR female...please excuse me for posting this as an example. I will remove if not allowed. Notice how the tail is quite speckled. Also search "Total Eclipse" These are Super Snow Eclipse geckos and are speckled all over compared to a regular Super Snow.

4. There can be regular sized dots, too...depends on the gecko, really. The most recognizable trait of an eclipse is the coloration of the eyes.
