I recently aquired a leopard geko, and i was told that she was in the super morph family. I would really appreciae some second opinions on the type of morph she is.
I planed on changing the substrate today after seeing her ingest the sand a few times. but the marbles are fine she cannot fit them in her mouth, and loves climbing on them.
How are morphs identified? Is it by the patterns, body shape, or eye color? becuse I have been searching for similar patterned geckos and can't find the correct color to pattern ratio.
Albinos are usually identified by eye color if the parentage isn't known, but it isn't 100% due to the variations of different computers' displays, among other things.
Different morphs will have different indicators, including color and pattern, but some are hard to tell apart without knowing what the parents were. I have a sweet little Rainwater Patternless Super Snow that, on first glance, looks like many other "white gecko" morphs.
Looks like an albino to me. I would say Tremper but her markings are dark so she could be bell too. The eyes don't look pink enough to me though.
There are a bunch of genetic traits that geckos can have - morphs are named based on the combination of these traits an individual gecko has and sometimes the overall look of the gecko as some traits have been line bred for a certain look. Lots of folks give their lines special names to distinguish unique looks from others and as a form of advertising.
Cute guy! I would agree on removing the sand. The marbles aren't as big of a concern to me but if he ever tried to eat one (they can fit surprisingly large things in their mouths and down their throats!) it would probably kill him if he swallowed it. Better safe than sorry IMO
