I believe I added photos correctly...

Anywho I picked up this gal around two months ago at a small, local pet store in this area. The breeder who sells from the shop told them she was a tangerine and I'm as curious as ever haha. I just thought tangerine leos were brighter and more solid so I didn't know if she was just a small percentage or what.

Thanks in advance!

Could it be that I'm not properly gut loading the insects? I feed them mealworms because my boy is pretty slow and had some crickets munch on him because he gave up. I put slices of potatoes and carrots into the thing with the mealworms tho and I coat them in calcium before feeding, but maybe that is incorrect? I certainly don't want my babies to be unhealthy :c

Or could it be the water? I was told that it was fine to give them tap and I don't remember reading anything about water other than making sure it was available. I only just thought about this because I worked at a pet store for a bit and a guy frequently came in for stuff for his tarantula and at one point he bought some chemical that purified the water.

I do think she's pretty thin. Juvies do tend to be slimmer than adults, but they should still have a good amount of fat in their tail, especially since they are growing. Your gut loading sounds fine as well as your supplementation.

Usually the concern with geckos that eat well but don't gain weight or even lose weight is parasites. You may benefit from taking a fecal sample to the vet.

Is the gecko in your avatar a recent picture? Are they housed together or did you get them from the same place? That one also looks thin and could have the same problem.

Oh, and to confirm: I agree, she is a hypo tangerine.

Ah I'm glad I posted here, I never would have guessed, especially since she's a little fireball.
They are indeed housed together and I will definitely get in contact with a vet asap.
Thank you very much!

If she is young, she may still change color a lot, especially if she is underweight right now. Tangerines will range in color from a very light to a very dark (orange, red, and an almost burnt orange color).

I would get a fecal sample done. If she's eating well and not gaining weight, it may be something as simple as worms and some meds should clear it up quickly. Good luck!
