if i mount it way #2, will it still give heat to the side where theres little gaps? width of the tank? or would way #1 be better?

i mounted it way #1, i just hope that the heat will reach to the other side of the tank to keep it at the appropriate temp. i believe 80-85 on the cooler side. 90-95 on the hotter

well right now at 8 am, the hot side is at 84.7 with just the UTH alone. i think maybe cuz of the cold ass weather in socal right now its having a hard time keeping it at 93 like i set me thermostat at. anyone else also having problems keeping there temp up right now during this weather? oh and its also reading 63.7 on the cool side.

That 10 gal tank isn't going to hold heat very well anyway. If you're using a screen top, you could cover part of it above the heat pad to keep more of the warm air in the tank.

The big thing to keep in mind too, is that the surface temp of the substrate over the heat pad is just as important as the air temp itself. You have to find that middle ground, otherwise you risk burn injury to the gecko or the glass cracking due to excessive surface temperature. Good Luck!

I had a small problem in the last week with the cold snap we just had. Temps went down to the 20s at night and 38 max during the day with a really cold wind chill. I had to get my space heater back out for their room to keep their temps at normal.

so theres nothing wrong with the UTH, just the cold weather makes it hard for it to keep up to the correct temp yea?
Then i might have to get my other red bulb for night time which increases the temp some.

Exactly! The glass tank is heavily affected by the surrounding air temp in the room you have it in. A space heater or some other supplemental heat source should help.

i just changed out my red light for a 25w red bulb. so far it has increased up to 86.3 and should hopefully keep going up.
