Mouth Rot?

Does anyone know what to do about mouth rot? I am going to be taking in a rescue and the person seems to think that the gecko has this...says it has a decreased appetite...any suggestions? I plan on taking it to the vet of course, but am looking for an idea of what will need to be done. Thanks!

We've used a diluted mixture of Listerine and water in a spray bottle to treat snakes. Not sure how that would work with geckos, though.
