I was inspecting my male gecko(3-4 years old) and noticed a bit of an idnentation in the right side of his upper jaw with sort of an irritaion. It is very, very small, but Im thinking its the beggining of mouth rot. I was thinking it may have been caused by a bad shed, but it is not on the outside of the mouth, so i ruled it out. Im glad i caught it so it doesnt get out of control. Ill post pics in a few hours. What should I do. If I cant control it, he will be taken to a reptile vet, but how do I treat mouth rot? How fast does it spread? Ive never ahd experience with it before.

I wish I would have seen this med a few months ago! One of my boas got it and I went to the vet. Well,$300. later,he is all better. I had to give injections of Baytril.

yes, its in the early stages. Dont get the medicine yet. I already talked to you about it a little while ago, but try putting a little bit of neosporin on it everyday. That should heal it but if it doesnt then get the meds.

How about polyspoin? Im pretty sure its the same type of medicine with the same ingredients.
I also Cleaned out a tub, put new everything in it, and put him there until he recovers. I wan tto make sure he ahs a clean environment while I treat him so it doesnt get more infected.
Thanks!

i dont have any right now but i googled it and i found out the only difference is that polysporin has 1 less active ingredient then neosporin so it should be ok.
