Mouth Rot

About 4 days ago, my brothers and I noticed something sticking out of my gecko's (Carlos) mouth. We didn't think anything of it and thought that it was just some leftover meal worm still in his mouth. Then the next day, the same thing was still sticking out of his mouth so we called the vet and scheduled an appointment.

Yesterday when we took him to the vet, the vet said that those things hanging out of his mouth were in fact scabs and diagnosed him with Mouth Rot. I have never heard of this before. The doctor said that it was a lack of vitamin A and C. We do, in fact, dust his meal worms with Herptivite Multivitamin twice a week, but he said we have to make that about three or four times a week. We also have to feed him medicine through a syringe and it is the most depressing thing I've ever had to do because I feel like I am abusing him. He keeps squirming around and tries to break free, sometimes even does an alligator-type Death Roll, and whenever he takes a lick of the medicine, he closes his eyes and shakes head back and forth (Just like humans do when we taste something bad) Oh, and we have to do this for forty two days...... FORTY TWO DAYS!!!!!

We have only one night done so far and I honestly hate it. My main questions are, has anyone ever heard of this? Is it curable? Could it have anything to do with the fact that we bought him from a *****-type store? And is it painful for my little leo? Thank you!
