Moving and Im excited and heart broken

So we just got our Military orders today for our next Duty Station. We're going to Hawaii. Im sooo excited because Im sick of the snow. I also found out that I wont be allowed to take my geckos with me. Im so sad about this, as I really love them both. Marcella as you all remember I got myself for my birthday as a baby and nursed her through a rough spot in her health. and Bella has such an amazing temperment not to mention shes Beautiful!! This is so hard!

That really is a shame, i feel for you. Do you know what you'll do with them?? Maybe somebody on here can keep them for you while you are gone and one day you can get them back???

we'll be there a minimum of 4-6 years

I'm hoping they can go to a good home on here so I know for sure that they will be properly taken care of and appreciated. Poor bella... she just got comfy in her new 55 gallon tank to herself.

When I found out that I got accepted to grad school in Hawaii I was sooo excited - but my first thought after that excitement was that I would have to leave all my animals behind. I had a boa, a leopard gecko, a tokay, and a few other things as well. Friends adopted them all, so I know they had good homes. I know it's hard not being able to take them though. I'm sure some wonderful geckos will be waiting for you in your new home!! Enjoy your time there!

I used to be in the military. Forced moving so much is rough. I feel for you... If you weren't all the way in MI, I would offer to adopt one or both for you. I am sure it's much easier for you to find someone locally and not put them through the stress of shipping.

Joyce, that is very exciting about your move to Hawaii! Michigan winters get old REALLY fast! It's a bummer about your geckos, though. It's always hard to give up beloved pets. I'm sure they will be well cared for, though.

No theres no way to import them, theyre not allowed. no outside reptiles or plants.

I'm afraid I will have to find a home for my sweet cat Gus too. that or put him in quarentine for 120 days! which would not only stress out him but me as well. he was a rescue kitty and was in the shelter 4 months before I got him... I can only imagine how he's feel being stuck in a cage for 6 months again!
I was so excited about this... sooooo excited. that excitement is giving way to m being stressed about 101 things. We're going to have to save up so much money for this move, so much more than we have time to save. its rediculously expensive there...lol. but then I think of the fact my new career as a beach bunny will begin! We were currently trying to have another baby as we just suffered a miscarriage ( dont worry, we're fine about it.. no condolences) and we decided to put that on hold so we can enjoy our time in paradise. Ashleigh I know youre willing to take them but do you have room? This would kinda be a permanant thing.

What a shame about your pets! I know you will be able to find good homes for them from someone here on GF. That way you would be able to get updates on how they are doing, and maybe even pictures from time to time.

It's great you are going to Hawaii and not Adak, Alaska!

My dad, Jason and I have talked about it. There would be room. They would be loved and cared for. And very much spoiled. Already kinda made plans to spruce up the 55 if thats what your going to let them go in. Put them in a temperary tank and have a little fun with my dad. I have seen to many people on here make hides that almost added another level. I told you when you first found out I would take one if you were only going to take one. But I would make the room for two. I called you. I am not moving any time soon and I will never adopt out any of my animals I have now. They all have names and they all have a place in my heart. And my dads. When I go off to college the geckos are going with and the snakes are staying back. If I keep them forever thats fine. i would email you updates and such.
