Here is our first Leopard Gecko. My son named him Mr. Smiles. He is 6 years old with a regenerate tail. We had a Bearded Dragon in this 40 gal, but moved him to a 75 gal. So what do you do with an empty 40 gal? Get a gecko!
Yes it was. We tweaked with the heating for a few days before getting him and did finally get it right. He has the UTH plus two tiles (which results in about 91 at the center and 87 by the edges). We have two hides on either side of the UTH - the hotter one being 91 inside. We have a nice floor gradient that goes across and down to about 72 degrees, where he has another dry hide and his moist hide. The floor gradient worked out well, but the tough part was getting the air temp a bit warmer. We ended up adding a ceramic heater on a thermostat to keep the air at a warmer temp (78).
I do love the size, though. He seems to love exploring. That and our Beardie is VERY happy in his new 75 gal.
