My Ball Python ingested paper towel! Help!

Well today, I decided to transfer from freshly killed to frozen thawed. At first, he wouldn't take it so I decided to place the small rat on a paper towel since I had to go to football practice. When I come home, I was happy to see he ate the rat...but to my suprise the paper towel was also on it's way to his stomach :main_thumbsdown:. I tried to pull it out(gently, mind you) but his saliva had weakened it and made it break.

What do I do? I really don't want my snake to die, I've had him for almost a year (2 months and one day is the anniversary). Please help!

Try not to stress to hard. Their stomach acids are pretty intense, so it should pass alright, but watch him just in case. If he starts looking like he's in distress get him to the vet.
You may want to call your vet in the morning and fill him in, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck with him. Please keep us updated on how he's doing!

That really sucks. I don't really see many options for you. You can either wait and see if it will pass or take it to a vet where they will probably want to cut it open. I would definitely call a herp vet and see what they say. Next time use a separate feeding tub with no other items in it. You can leave the snake it the tub overnight if needed.

Alright. For the record I do feed him out of his cage, it's just...it's a box so it's hard to keep him in :p

Thanks for the help everyone.

I use a deli cup lid to put f/t on for snakes that won't take their meal from the tongs. This keeps it from sticking to their paper towels, and no need to put them in another tub to eat.

You can buy a plastic container with a lid at Wal-Mart for about $5. Just drill some holes in it and it's good to go.
