My enigma and crickets....

My Little girl sammy, has enigma syndrome extremely bad. She walks in circles all the time, and loses balance often. I actually had to remove some of her hides because I thought she was impacted (i didnt know how since I took every precaution possible) So we took her to the vet, and he said it was not impaction, but that she was bruised from falling. Any way, with all that background info do you guys think I can feed her crickets or would they be more of a problem to her? I am not sure she is skilled enough to hunt them. But at the same time I would like to add some excitement to her life.

What do you guys think?

No one? I mean I guess it could not hurt to try as long as I do not overload her tank with crickets. I thought about stunning them some how so they can not get away so easy.

Maybe try pulling of the cricket's back legs? That way the can't hop, but they still move, so your girl will see them and try to hunt.

I pulled the crickets back legs off. (I hated it, felt like I was torturing them) But the gecko went crazy. She had so much fun chasing those little guys around in her food dish. She even jumped and lunged a few times to go after them. I was afraid at first because she seemed to ignore them, but I gave it a little bit and she was ready to go. Gave her 5 crickets and she finished them all.

Tongs work wonders for reptiles that have a hard time catching prey on their own. My leos are great at hunting, but they go nuts when I pull out my feeding tongs.

Most of mine love to hunt crickets, but I have one clumsy hunter who misses crickets a lot when trying, but is able to hunt dubia roaches without a problem as they are a little slower moving.

That is true, but I don't have too many issues in my racks, but they occasionally get away in my community rank and hide. Eventually they get eaten!

If pulling the legs off feels a bit harsh, either try using crickets that are a slightly smaller size or place fewer crickets in at a time so that she has a chance to eat them. As long as you don't leave uneaten crickets in there with her for a long period of time, you should have nothing to worry about.
