My feelings are hurt...

I got another male gecko last month and now my first gecko, also male, is acting strange. At first they were on the same shelf but different levels, and the new one was acting afraid. So now he's in another location in the same room as the other and he's more outgoing, but for the past two weeks they've been vocalizing to each other and now my first leo doesn't want to leave his cage. Everytime I try to take him out he automatically looks at the other guys cage and goes back inside of his tank. Should I move one of them outside of my bedroom? I miss interacting with my first male. Do you think it might be a territory issue? :main_huh:

It could be? I'm not sure. I have two males housed next to each other on my rack and they act perfectly normal. I wondered about that when I first placed them next to each other, but they didn't seem to notice each other, so I just left them how they are.

I wish mine weren't aware of each other. The new guy looks in the direction of the other cage whenever I take him too.

I house my males next to each other, they can see each other, and all of them are just fine...i think it may just be random...are you handling the new one first and not washing your hands really well, maybe the scent of the new guy on your hands is making him reject being held?

I wash my hands until my skin is dried out. So I don't think that's it. I do know that my first male is very touchy about any type of change. If I wear a different lotion he won't come out. When I moved his cage it took him 3wks to adjust. If I straighten my hair or wear a white shirt he won't come out either. The second little boy always wants to come out no matter what lotion or hairstyle, shirt etc. I think reptiles are capable of having personality quirks. Maybe that's what this is.
