Do any of you have/ ever had a problem with handling your geckos. My gecko wasn't always like this, but lately, it runs away when i try to pick it up, and once i have it in my hands, it trys to jump out.

It's so sad!

Any of you have advice on calming down your gecko's and becoming more approachable for them?

Can you give us some info about your gecko? How long have you had him/her, how old is he/she, etc........?

yea that'd help...

well, I adopted her from ***co in june. They were giving her away because she lost her tail. I dont have an exact date it was born, but i'm assuming that it was 1 month when i acquired it, so it is about 8 months old.

I dont have any pictures at the moment, but i believe that she is a SHTCB (i'm not that great at identifying different morph types, but this is what i inferred by looking at different pictures)

While I'm away at college, my brothers have been taking care of her (chnging water, cleaning feces, and feeding) however, they haven't handled her much.

She eats very well and seems to be pretty healthy, besides the stump tail.

I hope that is enough

Maybe it's bc you were away & she didn't get handled for a long time. Work with her slowly & she'll probably calm down once she's used to being handled again. Good luck!

Yep! This is good advice. It sounds to me too like the cause is lack of handeling. Start out holding her for short periods of time, and slowly increase. She should come around in a little while. :main_yes:

I agree that it may be because she wasn't handled constantly. I have one gecko that I could handle once a month and she would be sweet as could be, but my male needs to be handled at least every other day. Just work it slow and just try to stay patient. Good Luck with her and her stump tail! HaHa
