Hi. I need some help with my 6 month old female leopard gecko. The past few days she has been walking oddly on her front paw. Instead of using her feet, she walks on her wrists with her feet tucked under or to the side. This doesn't seem to cause her any pain, from what I can tell, and has not changed her eating habits. All of the crickets she eats are fed a calcium supplement before, so I don't think it's MBD, but I don't know if her leg is broken because it doesn't seem to be hurting her. She also has proper tank conditions. Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

http://geckoforums.net/f130-health-medications/70912.htm please fill this out. it will really help us determine what we can tell you to help. :) oh and i would not rule out MBD because walking like that is a symptom. also, you need to dust the crickets with clcium with d3 every feeding, and give them pure calcium in a bowl :)

Pictures would REALLY help also. MBD is fairly obvious in most cases, so we may be able to help, but really you should take the gecko to a vet...oh and welcome to the forum!

Here are some pictures of my leo. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos and the somewhat mess of her tank. She isn't very neat with her moss. Any comments you have are appreciated. Now that I've thought about it, I think MBD is a possibility because, although she was getting calcium from gut loading, it may not have been enough. I'm curious as to what you think it is. I am hesitant to take her to a vet though because last time I went to the only herp vet in my area she charged me over $250 for the appointment and an antibiotic, told me my leo would be fine after taking the medicine, and then my gecko died 3 weeks later. I really don't want to waste the money again if it's something easily fixable. Thank you so much for your help though.

Definitely looks like MBD - you need to dust food items with calcium in addition to gut loading them. Gut loading alone usually does not provide enough nutrients. She needs veterinary care ASAP. Only a vet can tell you if the issues can be reversed at the stage she is at or if euthanasia would be more humane. MBD is a very painful condition so I would not handle her at all and try to make her need to move as little as possible until you can get her to a vet. She also seems to have a fair amount of stuck shed on her legs and toes. Normally I would recommend soaking but it may be super painful with MBD so I would consult a vet.

yes, please take the baby to the vet :( it really looks like MBD. They should either give you some form of liquid calcium to help, or you may have to say goodbye depending on what the vet says... i the furure, remember that you have to dust with calcium with D3, give them pure calcium (no D3) in their tank, and dust with a vitamin supplement once a week.....

This might be treatable with calcium injections and proper nutrition. It needs to be determined by a professional as soon as possible though.
