My gecko won't open his eyes?

I have a male leopard gecko named Jack, he's a little over a year old and about ten minutes ago I went to turn his light on and noticed he wasn't looking up at my like he usually does when I come near him. I rubbed his head and he got up, but never opened his eyes. He can open them a little, but not very much, and I can't feed him now since he can't see the food I try to give him. He doesn't want to move as much as he normally does either, but that might be because he can't see.

He eats mostly crickets, the tank always has plenty in there that he goes around munching on, water and a lamp and heat pad. It's a 3x2 foot tank with lots of places to hide. I give him calcium powder on mealworms every couple of days and every once in a while a wax worm or two.

Hes been completely healthy and has never had any problems since i got him a year ago and I haven't changed the environment at all since then besides cleaning it and changing things around. I never use any cleaners or soaps, just hot water when things get dirty.

And his last shed was a few days ago.

does he have a humid hide at all? It's possible he has some stuck shed that could be causing his eyes not to open. The humid hide should be located on the hot side of the tank.

Take as close a picture of his eyes as you can get. And one of him, full body. Post them here when you get them. Pictures are much more helpful when it comes to describing something.
And what's your substrate, hot and cool sides temps, and what kind of light are you using and how long is it on each day?

The tank is half reptile carpet and half fine grain sand with big flat rocks on it, so there's hardly any sand there.on the hot side, there is a heating pad with the lamp that keeps it at about 85-90F and the cool side is about 75-80F. The hot side has the carpet while the cool side has the sand. I'm using a normal "daylight" 60w bulb from Rona because everything else made it too hot. I turn it on around 8 am and off around 10 pm everyday.

It was really hard to get some good close up pictures but I finally got him to sit still for a minute. I couldn't get good enough pictures of him in the tank so I had to take him out, and he opened his eyes for the camera but after i was done, he closed them again and haven't been open since. Sorry some of them are upside down: http://s1173.photobucket.com/albums/r584/lily7761/?start=all

His eyes looked totally normal when he did open them, nothing in them or any redness or anything else out of the normal.

My leopard gecko is having this issue too. I can't seem to find anything in his eyes , but he just won't open them.

Please Note: These are my OPINIONS only.
If you don't agree, that's OK do it your way.
But:
I had one..same as you are describing with eyes ,
couldn't see it but it was shed skin direct on the eye.
Vet removed it....not sure if he put drops in first but he took them
off with some type of tweezers.
I think if you were to be able to hold the eye open and use a
flashlight on the eye, you may be able to see it.
If I were to have another acting the same, I would start warm soaks
right away.
I think you would start seeing him start licking his eyes.
If he opened his eyes for photos, or whatever reason you mentioned,
he most likely can see to eat.
If not eating. Suggest an under tank heater....shake the over head 60
or whatever for trying to reach needed temps.
Only use about a 13 to 15 watt for viewing purpose.
Take care. Hj
