He was bright and golden when i brought him home. Now he is a dark brown color. The humidity is 70% and heat is 73 degrees. I dont know why. Plase help.
im personally unfamiliar with golden geckos but it may not be the heat so much as the light. the pet store i used to work at had anoles (idk what kind exactly) but everytime they were back in the reptile section they were brown, the one guy and i would bring them up to the window and they would turn a beautiful green. same with the iggys...try putting them near a window to get some sunlight...au natural lol
He was getting ready to shed. About three days later he turned a light grey on his back, i knew he had to be shedding so i thought ide help him out by spraying him really good throughout the day to keep that skin moist and then he shed, it was cool i accually got to see it, he ate most of the skin quickly, he was a pale greenish color after, then the next day, briht yellow. So i guess it was just him getting ready to molt.
i have 2 goldens myself and they turn different colors all the time (light green to dark green or even a greyish color) i think it has something to do with just how much light its getting my one gecko Frasier is much darker than my 2nd gecko Tesi because tesi likes to chill in the log all the time while frasier enjoys basking in the light so that could be it
