He's about 5 years old, and has had a problem sheddin around his head. I had my mom and dad taking care of him. They say they noticed he was having problems shedding around his head, mainly the eyes. he has shed a few times now, and they tried aiding him by soaking, and gently removing the shed. But the shed aroun/on the eyes will not come off. He is now blinded by this, and has trouble eating. I feel so bad for him, and want him well and happy. Please help!

Here is a Pic of his eye. His left is worse than the right.

Ares had some trouble shedding around the eye once. I lightly dampened a qtip and patted the skin. His was around his eye though. After I noticed a free edge come loose I lightly pulled it off with tweezers. However, you have to have really steady hands for something this close to his/her eye.

I had a teeny tiny baby crested gecko once that didn't shed completely once, and the skin had constricted so tightly around his body that the poor thing couldn't move. What I did was get a deli cup meant for reptiles (with perforations), filled it with moss, and then got it very damp with water. I then placed the small container half on and half off a strip of flexwatt and left the gecko in there overnight. By morning, the crested gecko had actually managed to shed by himself.

I don't think your gecko will be able to get that shed off by himself, but if you don't have flexwatt heat tape or a deli cup meant for reptiles, use a small tupperware container, fill it halfway with moss that you buy at the pet shop that's meant for reptiles, and use a heat pad or electric blanket. You only want enough heat to keep the humidity up, it's very important that half of the container remains unheated.

After the skin softens (after an overnight in the humidity chamber), use tweezers to carefully remove it. That should do the trick.

Are you sure its retained shed in the eye? How come the shed is on the eye ball? It seems like an eye infection to me; the eye also looks like its buldging out. I think its better to take him to a vet.

At this point it's probably a mixture of both, but there is definitely some retained shed there. You can even see some shed still sticking on the guy's nose. I'd try the humidity treatment first to pry that skin off, and only then will he be able to see damage to the eyes themselves.
