My Leo is acting strange...

Hey everyone!

My female leo is two years old, and I have had her in sand for her whole life. Just the other day, I changed her substrate to paper towel because I was getting nervous reading all of the facts about sand on this forum. Ever since I've changed her substrate, she's been acting really weird. Could it possibly be a texture thing? She won't go in her favorite cactus anymore, she just sits in the middle of the cage doing nothing. Don't get me wrong, she still eats, and is as healthy as can be. It just seems weird to me that she doesn't want to go into any of her hides, especially her favorite one! I have a picture of the tank for everyone to see, also.

Does anyone know why she's behaving like this, or have had a similar experience?

maybe your leo is sooooo happy it just wants to sit in the middle of the tank and feel the substrate instead of being in a hide with a different substrate

try putting moist sphagnum moss in the hides. instead of the paper towels. she might be missing the ability to dig this will help.

I think once she gets used to the change she will be fine. To her it looks like a completely different cage. She'll get used to it...:) :)
