The substrate almost looks like an orchid potting mix of some sort. o_O
What is it?

OMG! Your gecko is so cute!!! I love that pic!

I like natural setting, but cleaning is going to be hard...

They probably come out more because they feel more secure with all those hiding places. Really nice, but it seems like there's alot of places for crickets to get lost.

hehe yah my boy is funny, i always catch him in unique positions... The substrate is just some potting soil i had kicking around with soil underneath... I've changed my tank LOTS in the past 5 months (not its finally staying the way it is) I had wood chips on top of the dirt but with me mixing everything around all the time, now its underneath the dirt.. I"m going to buy another bag to put on top to make feeding a bit easier for them. (I try to feed them on the cave!!)

Yes I did make the big hide myself... It was the first time I've ever done anything like that, so the next time I'm going to make it less square... Make it look more real. I"m not a very artistic person so I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out!!

Just want to add, I haven't had any issues with the substrate.. I've had one leo try and eat the woodchips and I took that one out of the tank immeditely and she hasn't been in there since... All the leos are very healthy and happy! And I haven't had any scare of impaction yet so far :)

Thanks for your lovely comments!!

You might want to go with just normal soil, not a potting mix. I would be afraid that they would eat the chemicals and get sick. But that tank looks awesome!

yah its perlite, and it was a fear of mine that they would eat it (thats why im putting the wood chips in there) i hvave 2 plants in there that need the potting soil, so thats why its in there.. and they love those two plants so i dotn really want to take them out.

Yah I think they do feel secure , they have SOOO many hides, I've even put the plants in certain places so they can be used as hides aswell.. I also have underground hides that they love... I have at least 20 hiding areas. The cave has built in "tunnels" aswell that the leos LOVE to go in.. they hold in the perfect tempt. and it gives them a small secure place to hide...

Does anyone know how to add a profile picture?!
