My leos

These are my female leopard geckos Aruba and Bambi. Aruba is about 6.5" and Bambi is almost 4". I purchased both of these geckos for their laid back personalities and beautiful looks(although quite normal compared to everyone else's on this forum!). I am familiar to reptiles and other geckos but am semi-new to leopard gecko colors so please help me find the right words to describe their coloring. I am pretty sure Aruba is normal, however she has very bold and few spots compared to others I've seen at her age. She also is turning a brighter yellow as she ages and is not fading like the others I've seen. She has orange spots on top of her tail getting larger everytime she sheds and her tail is starting to be more of a purply color. Bambi's spots are obviously different. Her bands are very light in color and always have been, but she is still a very bright yellow. I am pretty sure she isn't jungle because of the normal, relatively unbroken banded tail (although the underside is broken) I would like to know if either of them are high yellow or if there is anything else I should know about them. So many terms out there! Thank you!

BTW, Bambi has the butt spot you all were talking about in earlier posts! We should have a butt spot club. lol

Aruba - high yellow
Bambi - tangerine (She will most likely hypo out aka loose the dark areas and have reduced spotting)

they are great looking geckos, just make sure there isnt any bullying going on (as far as size goes).

Yea, I was going to mention that as well. You probably would want to seperate them as their size seems far different from one another. Even if you haven't seen any problems yet, being proactive can save you alot of trouble in the long run.

Anyways, just wanted to mention that! They are great looking geckos and I agree, High Yellow and Tangerine. :)

They were raised together. I've been watching them like crazy and they sleep on each other. If I see any signs of bullying I am going to separate them. Yay about Bambi. I hope she does hypo out, she does look a lot like she will now. :) Thank you!

They are real sweet. I hope they continue to get along. fyi: Someone here warned me about wrapping their moss in paper towel so they don't eat it (accidentally while grabbing dinner).

I thought sleeping on each other was a display of dominance ?

It deffinately can be...

When you say they were raised together, do you mean that they are the same age? If that is the case, you need to separate them ASAP. The high yellow is much bigger than the tang and that would be due to bullying and dominance issues. As Lyndsey just said, sleeping with eachother, and especially on eachother can be a sign of dominance. They are solitary animals and like their own space. The other one is probably "invading" her space. Is the bigger leo the one that lays on top of the smaller?

Both have been temp sexxed, although you never really know with that. I am pretty sure both are female, but Bambi is still a little young. They are def. not the same age though, Aruba is a full two months or so older than Bambi I would guess. I got them at a breeder run pet store where I work. We keep all of the juvenile female geckos together there and both have been in the same tank since they were hatchlings. They have two large separate hiding places and sometimes the smaller one goes in a different one, but they usually lay next to each other or the smaller one usually sits on the tail of the other or something like that. I have never seen the larger one display ANY kind of dominance toward the smaller. The younger always gets her share of food as well. I am watching them carefully. For some reason every forum I post on becomes a debate on something I am doing wrong with these two. lol. Just for information. I am most likely switching the smaller one to a different tank, as my friend has a nice ten gallon she is willing to give me. I have reptile carpet so will use that in there as well. Thanks for everything you all.

I am sorry...it must be frustrating to ask for help and feel like you have to deal with a debate over how you care for your leos. It sounds like you are doing a good job of monitoring your leos. Not everyone is aware of what can happen if you don't monitor them very closely. Most everyone responding has your leo's best interest in mind it's just that most of the time no research has been done before the initial purchase and mistakes are made.

So hang in there! It's hard to communicate on the internet sometimes!

Exactly, but good to hear you are aware of everything. They both look great.

Its alright. I like hearing people being concerned about the welfare of animals. I can just be defensive sometimes. Thanks for everything you all. :)
