These two little ones hatched out yesterday during the full moon....The mom is a SHTCTB and the father is ???? I got her from a pet store, my only pet store gecko....don't ask....and she was already knocked up. The first one was only 2.8 grams...the second (with the stripe pattern) was 4.9 grams! Big difference.

Here they are!

I've noticed a lot of eggs seem to hatch around full and new moons...anyone else notice this?
Congrats on your against-the-odds hatchlings from the pet store mama!

And maybe it's just the angle, but what's with the first one's eyes?

I've been wondering the same thing actually. She is so small that it's hard to get a good look with my old eyes!! She seems to have eyelids, but her eyes are so small that I can't really tell what's going on yet. I think she was slightly under developed when she hatched (2.8 grams). There was a little yolk still left in the egg and the clutchmate's egg was totally empty...hence her weighing almost 5 grams! I'm gonna keep an "eye" on her and hopefully everything will turn out ok. She seems to be very active, climbing on her hide, crawling all over the place and she opens her mouth at me every time I open her tub to have a peek. But I am concerned about her a little. I'm gonna try feeding her in a day or two, wish her luck.

Good luck to you! Hope all goes well! Curious question, I got a new leo yesterday, and it looks like it hatched not too long ago, it's so tiny, how long does it take for babies to start eating? I know they had food at the store and all, but so far I haven't seen it eat yet, so it worries me. But again, good luck with your little ones! :)

Heres a little clearer picture of the left eye. The right eye isn't as bad. Could be a vitamin deficiency. It looks very small to me. Im gonna give her a few more days and see if she starts eating and it looks any better.:(

The babies usually start eating after 3-5 days old. They should shed for the first time and after that, you should introduce a few small feeders. But yeah, usually 3-5 days after they hatch.

Today sucks. I lost my first hatchling today. She had eyes that would not open and were literally sealed after the first day. She would just bump into things and really never had a fair shot at thriving. After much consulting with Steve Sykes about quality of life, I decided that it was time. This was the hardest decision I have had to make as a breeder and for those of you who think it's all fun and games being a breeder, let me tell you, it's not. In fact sometimes, like today, it really sucks. Just wanted to leave a last picture of her on here.......I'll never forget her.
