nice gecko :)
also I have used all different types of sand for many many years and not once had a problem with it. so dose the rest of my family and many of my herp friends.
the only reason it would cause a massive life threatening issue is if the gecko was actually eating it, as in forget the crickets nom nom sand for breakfast. or if it wasnt receiving adequate heat for its digestive system to work correctly.

Either way its yet another owners preference. i like sand because its easy to clean, it smells less and the geckos love to dig in it and play king of the castle :p

so i would say if you see him eating a tun of it on purpose then change it but other wise its up to you :)

Welcome to GF both of you :)

rather not say
A ceramic bowl or plastic bottle cap works well. I recommend putting calcium without D3 in the dish. I have never heard of a leopard gecko overdosing on D3, but I feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

Also, your leopard gecko will eat the calcium when he feels he needs it, so you don't have to worry about him overdosing on supplements.
