Thank you for doing that. I dont even like to look at the petco and petsmart reptiles displays anymore, it just makes me very sad.

Glad they are doing better! Sometimes it goes the other way, I know cause I had that happen once to me :(...and they said she was eating fine and everything :(
But the little guy looks so much better!

Glad to see that these leos got a good home. Three of my five leos came from a Petco. I just couldn't stand to see them in that care. They really need to get some experts on reptiles to start working in those places or at least have frequent inspections to see of they're taking good care of their animals because, to put it mildly, it's appaling. Everytime I go in to buy mealies, I'm tempted to rescue another leo. I'm glad you rescued those two! After all, if we don't help them, who will? :main_thumbsup:

The problem with 'rescuing' them is that you're buying them from the store, which means they are making money, which leads them to get more animals to put into their stores. It's a vicious cycle. The only way to really help these animals to to try to get new legislation put in place that would force such companies to be liable for poor care of their animals, or to somehow reduce their business so much in the reptile department that they either stop carrying the critters or they go out of business. I hate going into such stores because of how poorly their animals are cared for. There's been several occasions when I've gone in there and actually educated customers on an animal because the employees had no idea how to answer their questions. And I'm not expert at all.

At least we can say that when you rescue the animals they go to a good home and get proper care...I just wish we didn't have to 'rescue' them in the first place...

i don't buy; i have made no many displays at their stores that they call before i find out about the abuse; the MGR-she calls me first when this happens and admits if an employee hurts an animal. i get them at no cost

I bought mine(3 females), but I consider it a good investment because they will be breeders once my male becomes old enough and they all have good coloring or at least in my opinion they do.

I agree with you Arconna. The big chain pet stores definitely need to either become more educated in the animals they carry (unlikely) or they need to have someone come in and shut them down for neglect and cruelty. No animal should be forced to live in some of those conditions.

Yeah I will agree on the viscous cycle part. However, every petco I have been to had remarkably healthy animals and at least on employee that knew what they were doing. Petsmart on the other hand...
