I just got my first crested gecko from Rep Etc at the All Maryland Reptile Show today. He's fantastic.

He's a little baby... His entire body can fit on the end of my pinky finger. It's amazing.

I'm really glad that I got him... He's already a lot of fun, and I'm really looking forward to watching him grow and change.

Here are some pictures of him (that's his enclosure in the back, which I freaking love) --

I might get some better pictures up sometime... These were just taken with the webcam in my Mac.

Hooww cuutteee :p

There's a forum on here called Rhacodactylus Geckos for Crestie's you can post stuff in there.

I also just got my first Crestie a few weeks back, but he wasn't a baby, that's him in my display picture XD

And if your using that big bright lamp for heat, you don't need it, they do best in room temps.

Do have any names for him/her yet? :D

Oh cool, thanks. And if not there, I should have posted in "Other Geckos." Guess I didn't see that.

Ahh, very nice. He's cute.

Also, it's not for heat too much... It's only a 40 watt bulb, and the temperature is around 72 F. I put it in there to bring it up a bit from the mid-sixties during the day, and I'm gonna put in a red bulb at night to bring the temperature down a bit and give him a good light cycle.

And, yeah, I think I'm going to call him Bernard. Although, to be fair, I don't know if it's a him or her yet, but regardless.

Yeah, I'm supposed to be getting one of those Exo Terra 18x18x24 for my big boy soon, whenever it is supposed to arrive, stupid Alaska.

I purchased a low watt under the tank heater, never seen one before so I think I'm gonna give it a try.

Bernard's a good name :p I STILL haven't thought of a name for my boy, I just can't think of one.

Names are one of the hardest things about getting a new pet... Whatever you choose to call it, it will be branded with for life. It's a very difficult decision.

I'm calling him Bernard because that's the name of the main character in one of my favourite shows, Black Books.
Whenever I name something, I like the name to hold some sort of significance with my interests.

Makes sense, do you have an exo terra tank, or a zoomed, there basically the same thing I guess haha.

How do you like it?

I've got a zoo med.
It's fantastic. Came prebuilt, all high quality materials, seems incredibly durable, and holds moisture very well.

It's a fantastic size for my crested, too.
It's huge, so he can live in it for his whole life without getting too big for it, and he's got so much room to explore since I put some things in there for him to climb on.

The only thing I would be worried about in such a big house for such a tiny baby is that they won't be able to find the food..

I've heard about that, but I'm not too worried about it. It will be on the floor, always in the same spot, so I'm sure he'll be fine.
