i am not really sure how much you are supposed to, but i handle mine every day. the days i forget to handle it all day it sometimes doesn't like me after. I just get scared if i don't handle it enough it won't like me.
IMO new geckos, especially babies, should be left largely alone for at least two weeks so they can get used to their home and/or until they get to be a decent size - I'd say about 30-40g. Handling them a few moments a day for cleaning and feeding is okay but they are very nervous and the potential for them to take a dive off of your hand or drop their tail is high. While they do get more used to being handled and more calm about it, they won't "dislike" you if you give them the time they need to grow up and be a little less nervous about everything. They will probably get used to you faster the bigger they are.
