Well, you see, I NEEDED this new gecko. And I had no where to put him and limited space. SO, I decided on a rack. After much searching and pricing out stuff, my husband (in his awesome wisdom!) suggested that I remodel an old dresser we had.:main_thumbsup: It holds 12 Iris Sweater tubs or 16 Iris shoebox tubs PERFECTLY. (Right now I am using the two bottom drawers for storage and when I need more gecko space, I can remove them and use the shelves!)

SO, here are the pics from start to finish:

Paint: $5
Heat Cable: $12
Iris Sweater Tubs: $18
... Room to buy MORE GECKOS: PRICELESS!:p

Looks great and very recoursful! Can you post a pic of the heat cable? Im aware that people use it, ive just never seen it? How does it work in comparison to heat tape? Do you need a thermostat? Where do you buy it? Thanks!

I bought the 11.5 ft ZooMed heat cable for $10 at a local pet store that was going out of business this past fall. I figured it was a good back up if my heat mat went bad (or I needed more geckos-LOL!). You can get it at http://www.reptilesupply.com/product.php?products_id=398 where I plan to purchase a longer one when I fill the rest of my rack :D .

In that pic, I had put 2 rows of cable in the back taped down with foil a/c tape. (keep in mind that 6.5ft of the cable is a cold lead for a plug) This didn't raise my temps high enough (my house is 68 in the winter), so I re-routed it all zig-zagged under my one tub with my new gecko. I use a lamp dimmer for it to control the heat (see it in my pic near the plugs?).

For my tank, I bought a ZooMed ReptiTemp 500R Thermostat to control my heat mat & heat lamp. Works like a charm!:main_thumbsup: I will buy another Thermostat when I have more in my rack and more heat cable to control. Probably a Proportional Thermostat.
