My Rescue

So about a month ago, I adopted this leo from my work. Her old owner had dumped her onto us and gave us no information about her. She had come in a filthy cage where she was on sand, dead crickets and mealworms everywhere, and there were cobwebs hanging at the top of her cage. There was no water in the bowl and there was a green slime at the bottom. She gave me this sad look and I had to take her home. When I did take her home, I realized that she had stuck shed on three of her toes. I have tried putting her in a "sauna" and let the moisture kick in, I have tried using q tips and gently rubbing them off and nothing is working. From what I can tell, the shed has been stuck on her feet from a long time. What should I do at this point regarding her feet? And my coworker told me that she is blind, but I have yet to see anything proving or disproving that theory but if it ends up being true, what can I do to make feeding easier for her?

Just keep working on the toes daily using soaks and picking/rubbing gently. I've noticed that sand and stuck shed can pretty much cement on toes over time, and it can take a lot of patience to get it off.

If she is blind, you'll most likely have to tong feed by sound/touch, although if she's good about eating out of dish, she may be able to continue doing that. Also, if she turns out to be blind, avoid rearranging the cage furniture. That way, she can memorize where everything is.
